We've been eating at Rick and Tina's Hog Wild for years and LOVE the smoked pork barbeque. They are hard-working people who are serious about their food and their family business. They have taken a lot of flak from the 'powers that be' in East Berlin for not being in compliance with the nice 'historical' atmosphere. So why is there a Rocco's Pizza across the street with a huge sign out front? It's time to give these people the credit they deserve. They have great home-cooked food and a cheerful picnic atmosphere. They have my vote for a great place to eat (one of the few) in East Berlin.

Hog Wild Catering is this great family owned BBQ place that has amazing hickory and PA hardwood smoked meats that have a rich and succulent taste that will have you coming back for more. East Berlin is somewhat out of the way from my normal food stomping grounds, but it's well worth it. The place is set back somewhat from the road, but you'll know it's there by the big smoker out from. There's outdoor patio and porch seating as well as a few booths inside. There's all sorts of vintage signs hanging around, and the bathroom decor got me smiling too. All of the folks that we've dealt with there are great, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the food. They are really passionate about their BBQ, and they ended up winning best ribs at the hot air balloon festival (the name escapes me) recently. Now to the food - I love the pit beef sandwich. A nice toasted bun is piled high with pit beef, and you're going to want to try it by itself to taste the great smokey flavor and then with their out of this world BBQ sauce. Thankfully they sell their BBQ sauce and dry rubs too, and we've had the sauce sitting around rapidly getting depleted. My boyfriend usually gets their combination platter and he's had a rib sampler as well, and both received rave reviews. Our southern friends that visited recently were all over the BBQ pork. So basically, suck it up and take the out of the way drive to check it out.

I've driven past this place many times and i finally took the time to stop in. Small inside with 3-4 small tables and as many counter seats. It's clean and the decor works, ala roadhouse type feel with signs etc. The menu looked pretty diverse from a meat-avore BBQ perspective. Unfortunately i couldn't eat-in so got a tub of beef and pork to go - sauces on the side. The hickory was good but the "other" sauce was awesome - couldn't quite hear what it was called. Now i'm not a BBQ expert, but i know what i like and both meats were lean and fresh, despite 2 days in the 'fridge before being re-heated and eated. I thought they seemed a little pricey but after checking at the local chain grocery for similar deli take-out meat, the prices were fair; actually pretty good considering the freshness and taste. Overall i'll definitely spend more cash here in the future...just make sure you bring cash, no plastic. Also, it's BYOB.

Not a fan of their food, or the signs, or the smoker in front of their place, or the van that is always parked in front which is really just another sign, but it seems like everyone else is doing the 5 star thing so ignore me!!!

Hog Wild catered our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner. The food was delicious, there was more than enough food for the amount we ordered. Easy to work with and a good value for the money. Everyone loved the food and the variety of the the sides. Thanks for a job well done!

If you are looking for "local" food, Hog Wild BBQ is about as local as you can get. The setting and atmosphere is excellent. Their patio makes you want to just kick back and relax. I could have cancelled my destination and stayed there all afternoon. I tried their pit beef and it was pretty good. The horse radish they sprinkled on the beef was a nice special touch. Only disappointment was their fresh cut fries were over cooked and a bit floppy, but they were still much better than any of the frozen commercial varieties. I am looking forward to getting back there real soon.

I ate lunch here Saturday with 9 friends. This was about the 5th or 6th time I've eaten here. I try not to eat a lot of meat anymore, but I enjoy it when I do. This is a great place to indulge. There aren't too many (non-potato) vegetable options here. No worries. I think I've tasted all of the meats here in various forms: shaved beef or pork, smoked pulled pork, pit beef, BBQ chicken or pork ribs. I can't say that any were less than great. Most recently I had the Hog Wild Pizza Steak sandwich and a chili hot dog. The sandwich was big, tender and tasty. I got it with the grilled peppers and onions. It all came together perfectly. I hadn't eaten breakfast, so I decided to top it off with the chili hot dog. Good move. The chili was a bit beanier than I might prefer, but that's not a complaint since it still provided a tasty compliment to the dog. My friends all enjoyed their meals as well. It's become a regular stop for us on our bi-annual trip through town. We wouldn't miss it. And as usual, we bought a load of ribs, potato salad, slaw, pork BBQ and rolls for dinner. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The BYO option provides a nice alternative if you want to drink something other than their selection of non-alcoholic drinks. On a nice day, the patio seating with plenty of shady umbrellas (and a handful of tables under the porch) is a perfect place to enjoy their offerings with your own beer and some friends. If the weather isn't great, there's always takeout or a small seating area inside. I look forward to our next visit. It's definitely worth going out of your way to stop for a meal.

Tina & Rick. Rick and Tina. They have taken enough abuse from the local town council of East Berlin for saying a smoker is the same as a sign. No idea what the local council has against small family owned business because they do not go to larger cities or other countries where small families fill so many hungry bellies with real ingredients like the Gulans. The respect of regular customers is what keeps this family biz going. Homeschooling the kids. Hard work- day in day out- and yet they keep being entreprenuers and making a living from working hard and explosive, tasty, REAL ingredients.

Great BBQ at a reasonable price. Varied menu, fast service. Wraps and hot fries are delish! Generous outdoor seating, limited inside. Cash only, ATM on-site

Have not been impressede with food. I've tried it a couple of times thinking that it was fluke and it might get better. Nope. The flavor is just not there. Very bland and not worth the expensive price for what you get. There are a few other BBQ places in the area which are much better.

We had pulled pork sandwich and a pit beef sandwich. Both were pretty good. The pit beef is kind of like roast beef. Not brisket. Still it was pretty good and tender. The counter help were very friendly and helpful. Store was clean. To bad they don't have beef ribs. They have two tables inside and several outside. This place is kind of average for BBQ. I would go go back.
